Leah was 15 years old at the time she was kidnapped, and she hasn’t be released from the Boko Haram captivity because she refused to convert to Islam.

In March 2018, the Federal Government announced the insurgents had returned 106 girls of the schoolgirls abducted but Leah was not released with them. She has spent over 400days in captivity, on May 14, 2019, Leah celebrated her 16th birthday in Boko Haram camp, Muslims gathered to pray for her release on that day.

Recently, the report said: Leah Sharibu had given birth to a baby boy on Saturday morning though she was alive, healthy and not dead. She had a baby for a Boko Haram commander in the Niger Republic, she would have been released several months ago but because of her pregnancy, she was denied.

Moreover, she was a symbol of Christian faith and a hero his family want her alive with baby or without a baby but to be released from the Boko Haram captivity.

Furthermore, the chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was executed recently by the Boko Haram terrorist though the federal government ready to pay the ransom for his release from their camp, but the Boko Haram commander rejects the offers arrange for his release. The release of Leah his still indefinite, rumours has it that she has been converted to Islam.
