Ivory coast and Arsenal new signing Nicolas Pepe is the clubs 4th ivorian player following the path of previous players like Yaha Toure, Eboue, and Gervinho.
Pepe was announced on 1 August, 2019 by the North london club Arsenal FC. The winger who completed his international duties for Ivory coast in the just completed Total African cup of Nations (AFCON).
Arsenal secured the wingers signature making him Arsenal all time record signing. The Gunners will have to pay a total of 72million pounds to Lille, although the deal will see the English side pay the fee in installments.
Pepe was born on 29 may 1995, and started his career surprisingly as a Goal Keeper for local side Solitaire Paris Est until the age of 14. He started playing as an out field player when he joined poitiers in the 2012-13 campaign. The player then joined Angers in 2013 playing for their reserves. Pepe joined Lille on 21 June 2017 on a five year deal which was worth 10miilion pounds. His stay in Lille was blossom with him finishing the 2018/19 season with a total of 22goals and 11assists only second to PSG Mbape.
On the 1 August, 2019 Pepe was announced by English premier league side for a club record deal of 72million pounds breaking a former record by fellow team mate Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang. The ivorian however completed his medical the following day and was handed the Jersey no 19 his former jersey number while in Lille.
