NECO Chairman, Dr Abubakar Saddiq stated that people have to buy scratch cards in order to register for NECO examination, as they register their biometric are captured and recognized in every school.
Mr Abukakar Gana, NECO’s Acting Registrar stated that the equipment were procured to fasten operation in the areas of logistics and security of it examination, NECO had been making use of scratch cards to register over fifty one thousand candidates for it examination.
NECO has Scrapped the use of scratch cards for the conduct of its Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, and the board had procured 8,000 biometric machines for registration of candidates.
The 8,000 biometrics machine provided cost the council N500 million while the 20 Toyota Hilux gulped N327,800,000 and each vehicle cost N16,390,000 while a units of biometric capture machine was bought of N62,500.
The sum of N2 billion was generated through the sale of scratch cards to candidates and was assigned into the treasury single Account of the Federal Government.
